Car crash Drivers of motor vehicles have a legal obligation to operate their vehicles in a reasonably safe, careful, and prudent manner. This duty also includes driving through Plano intersections. When two cars approach a traffic intersection at roughly the same time, they must follow the rules. A Plano intersection accident lawyer can assist injured people in obtaining the full amount of compensation owed for the Defendant's negligence and the client's injuries.

At an uncontrolled intersection, for example, the vehicle on the left must yield the right-of-way to the vehicle on the right when they arrive at about the same time. Violations of this traffic law and similar traffic regulations may result in serious multi-vehicle collisions.

Intersection car accidents can take many different forms, ranging from rear-end collisions to failure to yield collisions. Plano intersection car accidents, regardless of the circumstances, can result in serious personal injuries. Some may be permanent and long-term.

If you have suffered personal injuries as a result of another driver's negligence in a Plano intersection car accident, you may be entitled to compensation under the law. The Law Office of Doug Goyen in Plano understands that intersection accidents frequently result in serious injuries.

Our law firm can set up a consultation with a Plano intersection collision attorney. We can talk about the specifics of your accident. Many Plano car accident cases involve conflicting accounts of how a collision at the intersection occurred. While one driver claims there was a red light, the other driver claims otherwise.

Even if the police report clearly assigns blame to one driver, the at-fault driver's insurance company may evaluate the car accident claim differently and attempt to shift blame to another party.

Having successfully prosecuted numerous contested liability car accident cases, our attorneys move quickly to obtain the evidence required to address allegations of comparative fault. To establish liability, we will obtain witness statements, red light camera images, cell phone records, and police reports.

After establishing liability, our personal injury attorneys will address the damages associated with your injuries. We send all medical records, medical expenses, and other medical expenses incurred in the past or anticipated in the future to the responsible party's insurance company so that the car accident claim can be evaluated quickly.

The impact of a near head-on collision in the case of a left turn, hit-and-run accidents, and rear-end collisions are the most common causes of car accident injuries.

Many car accident victims require years of medical treatment to recover from their catastrophic injuries, which include:

  • Back, neck and spinal cord injuries including paralysis
  • Serious head injuries including traumatic brain injury
  • Facial injuries and eye injuries
  • Burn injuries
  • Joint injuries to the shoulders, elbows, knees, ankles, and wrists
  • Internal organ damage
  • Fractures and crushed or broken bones

A personal injury attorney working on behalf of victims may investigate a compensation claim to determine whether third parties are to blame for the accident. The crash could have been caused by a faulty design or a defective component that failed and caused the accident.

In other cases, the accident was caused by a failure on the part of the municipality or others in charge of clearing snow and ice from the road, which resulted in the crash. Multiple defendants can be added to the same civil lawsuit in these cases, or individual claims can be made against each party individually.

Because the accident was not your fault, the insurance companies of other drivers or third parties will usually pay for the damage to your vehicle and property, as well as other expenses such as:

If the person who caused your accident was a hit-and-run driver who fled the scene, you may still be compensated through another type of insurance policy. Your attorney can file a claim for uninsured motorist coverage under your policy.

A Plano car accident attorney can handle every aspect of your case, including speaking directly with insurance companies and filing all necessary documents to begin the civil process. Your attorney can review police reports, medical records, and eyewitness accounts to help you build a strong accident case and recover compensation for your injuries.

A great many car accidents occur at intersections, and a large portion of those accidents occur when a driver turns in that intersection and fails to yield the right of way to another driver. It is the responsibility of the driver to ensure that they can turn safely. If they fail to fulfill this duty, the law holds it against them when determining liability in the case.

According to Texas Transportation Code Section 545.103, all drivers must turn their vehicles safely. A driver is not permitted to turn their vehicle unless it is safe to do so. Section 545.104 requires drivers to use their turn signals at least 100 feet before making a turn – this is part of safely turning. Section 545.101 specifies how drivers should make turns at intersections, with right-hand turns in the right-hand lane and left-hand turns in the far left-hand lane. Section 545.102 makes it illegal to turn left in front of oncoming traffic when a driver cannot see oncoming traffic for at least 500 feet in front of their view due to a curve or grade in the roadway.

According to Texas Transportation Code Section 545.152, turning left into a private driveway or alleyway requires the driver to yield the right of way to approaching vehicles coming from the opposite direction. Section 545.153 requires drivers who see yield signs to slow down to a reasonable speed and stop at stop signs before turning at the intersection. Section 544.004 requires drivers to obey all traffic control devices when driving or turning. Sections 545.151 and 545.153 address how drivers must stop and/or yield when approaching or entering an intersection, as well as how they must stop and/or yield at intersections with or without traffic control devices.

Every intersection creates hazards that can result in a minor or major traffic accident. Because of the volume of cars passing through them and the actions they may take, four-way stops, whether controlled by traffic signs or traffic lights, can be dangerous.

U-turns – Drivers who make U-turns at intersections can endanger other drivers and frequently cause serious auto accidents with injuries.

Running a stoplight or a stop sign – Drivers who disregard red light signals or stop signs are frequently to blame for intersection accidents. T-bone collisions occur when two vehicles collide perpendicularly.

Uncontrolled intersections – When multiple vehicles arrive at an uncontrolled intersection with no signs or lights to direct traffic, every driver is required to follow the right-of-way rules.

I felt like my case was taken care of very well. Thx!! Bernard M.
Doug is a great attorney. He took care of my auto accident claim promptly, and answered any questions I had. I also had one of my hospital bills go into collections for non-payment. I was able to contact Doug a year after the accident, and received a copy of the check the hospital claimed they didn’t receive. I highly recommend this guy. David J.
The Law Office of Doug Goyen helped me recovery every bit I was owed on my claim. Very happy I used them. They knew what they were doing, and kept me informed. I felt taken care of the whole way. You wont go wrong using them. Arthur H.
Mr. Goyen helped me take on my own insurance company, the great and mighty Allstate. My prior firm basically dumped me, with a permanent injury because the case didn’t meet their financial guidelines for a settlement. I was a bicycle rider hit by a car driver at an intersection, and Allstate was the company on BOTH SIDES OF THE CLAIM. My own insurance company tried to throw me under the bus to limit their payout! Without Mr. Goyen’s help, I would have been left with NOTHING! I had thousands of dollars in unpaid medical bills, unable to receive treatment to correct the issue. He was unafraid and helped me get the best settlement I could … I am tremendously thankful! Pamala M.
